After working out the area you need to find oua retailer who offers cheap vinyl plank flooring. The strength of the product is similar to concrete. Although the flooring comes in a variety of forms planks are installable with a minimal amount of tools and measuring. Tape a large piece of plastic over the concrete floor securing all edges with duct tape.

Although vinyl flooring is flexible it will separate if you install it over an uneven surface so if the concrete has high spots you need to grind them down and if it has low spots or cracks you need to fill them with concrete patching compound. Use a tape measure to establish the exact area and add an allowance of 5 square feet for any emergency during the flooring. Don t sand vinyl flooring as it may contain asbestos. The concrete floor must also be free of cracks or the vinyl tile will eventually sag into the gap.

This is the second time we ve done our concrete basement using vinyl plank flooring see the last place here and this time it went so much smoother. The hardest part of the job is often cleaning and leveling the concrete base. If you don t have all the tools or you want to be 100 sure you don t waste any material invite a friend over to help you. Use a self leveler on low spots and or sand high spots of wood or concrete.
